Firegeezer.com occasionally shares a feature called “Looking Back,†where it highlights old magazine ads from *Fire Engineering Magazine* dating back to the 1950s. One recent post featured an ad from April 1957, showcasing the Peter Pirsch & Sons company based in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The ad included a drawing of a mid-ship quint from Evergreen Park, giving a glimpse into the fire apparatus of that era.
An article from 1981, written just a few years before the company ceased operations, can be found HERE. It offers valuable insight into the history and legacy of Pirsch fire trucks.
These historical images help preserve the legacy of early fire apparatus and the companies that built them. They serve as a reminder of how far firefighting technology has come—and how much we can learn from the past.
Bill Friedrich shared this image of the unit as it was deployed in Evergreen Park, matching their yellow fleet. This 1965 mid-ship quint had a 750-GPM pump, 250 gallons of water, and a 65-foot ladder. This "modern" photo of Truck 32 shows a Federal Q siren and two 888 warning lights on the fenders, along with a roof beacon.
Another image from Bill Friedrich shows the truck after it was painted black over red by a local shop. The Q siren has been relocated from the fender to the bumper.
