Firegeezer.com occasionally shares a feature called "Looking Back," where they showcase vintage advertisements from *Fire Engineering Magazine* dating back to the 1950s. Recently, they highlighted an ad from April 1957 that featured Peter Pirsch & Sons of Kenosha, Wisconsin. The ad included a drawing of a mid-ship quint from Evergreen Park, offering a glimpse into the firefighting equipment of that era.
An article from 1981, written just a few years before the company closed, provides more insight into the history of Pirsch and its impact on the fire service. You can read it [here](#).

Bill Friedrich shared this image of the unit in service, matching the department’s yellow trucks. This 1965 mid-ship quint was equipped with a 750-GPM pump, 250 gallons of water, and a 65-foot ladder. The truck also featured a Federal Q siren and two 888 warning lights on the fenders, along with a roof beacon, making it look quite modern for its time.

This photo shows the same truck after it was repainted black over red by a local shop. The Q siren was moved from the fender to the bumper, changing the truck’s appearance while maintaining its functional design.
These images give us a fascinating look at how fire apparatus evolved during the mid-20th century, and how departments like Evergreen Park maintained their fleets with brands like Pirsch. It's a great reminder of the craftsmanship and engineering that went into these early fire trucks.
