On Saturday afternoon (March 9, 2019), firefighters from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire District responded to an accident at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Harvest Gate Road. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered two vehicles that had sustained significant damage. Three individuals were taken to the hospital for further evaluation; two were from one car and one from the other. Firefighters had to remove two doors from one of the vehicles to safely extricate the driver. Two Algonquin ambulances and one from Huntley assisted in transporting the injured parties. The remaining occupants of the second vehicle were fortunately unharmed.
While I was on site, I captured some images that really capture the intensity of the situation. You can see firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools, commonly known as Hurst tools, to carefully extract the trapped individuals. The images below provide a glimpse into the efforts made by the emergency responders to ensure everyone's safety.
