On Saturday afternoon (March 9, 2019), firefighters from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire District responded to an accident at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Harvest Gate Road. Upon arrival, they discovered two severely damaged vehicles involved in the collision. Emergency personnel worked quickly to extract the injured individuals from the wreckage. Two occupants from one vehicle and one from the other required medical attention and were transported to the hospital by two Algonquin ambulances and one from Huntley. Firefighters had to remove two doors from one of the vehicles to reach the trapped driver.
The scene was chaotic, with emergency vehicles filling the area as responders coordinated their efforts. Thankfully, not all occupants from the second vehicle were injured, but they were understandably shaken by the incident. The use of specialized rescue tools, such as hydraulic extrication devices, was necessary to ensure the safety of those involved.
