The reporter learned on November 23, 2011 that the Continental Group stated that it is currently investing US$12.5 million in a new technology center in Brazil in order to increase its capabilities in emissions testing and calibration of diesel and gasoline engines.

The technology center is located in the Salto Industrial Park in Sao Paulo, Brazil and covers an area of ​​2,400 square meters. The Continental Group will be equipped with a chassis and engine dynamometer, a chemical laboratory, a fuel tank, and a wide temperature range (from minus 35 degrees to zero. 50 degree) freezing treatment room.

Construction of the technology center is expected to be completed in mid-2012, when it will create 50 jobs for the local community. The technology center will provide advanced technologies and resources for powertrain systems including sensors, brakes, engine management technology, and fuel supply technology. The mainland has a powertrain plant in São Paulo and employs 500 people. Brazilian automakers can use Continental's infrastructure when developing new engine projects.
