On February 24, Dongfeng Visteon (Shiyan) Automotive Trim Systems Co., Ltd. held its 2008 Quality Work Conference to set the key quality initiatives and objectives for the year. The company's General Manager and Party Secretary, You Guoqing, signed a contract with 11 internal units, outlining a detailed plan for quality improvement. This marked the beginning of a focused effort to elevate product standards across all departments. The year 2008 was officially declared the "Year of Quality Improvement" by the company, with the theme "Everyone Creates Quality, Everyone Enjoys Quality." This initiative aimed to foster a culture where every employee took ownership of quality, from production to management. The main goals included reducing the overall scrap rate to below 0.42%, keeping the external integrated PPM (parts per million) under 100, and ensuring that commercial vehicle PPM remained at or below 100, while passenger vehicle PPM would be limited to 25 or less. To achieve these targets, the company emphasized strengthening supplier management and SQE (Supplier Quality Engineering) efforts. It planned to monitor and address quality issues in purchased components, establish robust processes for corrective actions, and ensure suppliers adhered to procurement and quality agreements. By doing so, the company hoped to further reduce the PPM value of procured parts. In addition, the company launched in-depth quality competitions among teams and departments, aiming to boost motivation and engagement. It also worked on improving inspection and guidance standards for critical processes and control points, which would help enhance product quality and ultimately increase customer satisfaction. These measures reflected the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining high-quality standards in an increasingly competitive market.
