On March 14th, the newly constructed granulation system of Daqing Petrochemical Complex's ABS plant successfully produced qualified products, marking a major milestone in the company's development. This achievement was the result of the collective effort and dedication of all employees, symbolizing the completion of the 100,000-ton-per-year ABS plant renovation and expansion project. The new granulation system, which is the final phase of the project to double the production capacity from 50,000 to 100,000 tons per year, plays a crucial role in meeting the annual production targets for 2006 and supporting the broader goals of the petrochemical complex's 11th Five-Year Plan. Its successful commissioning is a key step toward achieving the plant’s long-term growth objectives. The new granulation system consists of three main components: blending and metering, extrusion granulation, and air delivery. It has a designed capacity of 50,000 tons per year. The blending and metering system uses an advanced weight-loss measurement method, significantly reducing the complexity of the raw material mixing process, improving production continuity, and lowering equipment and labor costs. The extruder and its ancillary systems were supplied by Germany's CWP company, known for their high automation, PLC remote control, and large-scale production capabilities, with a maximum output of up to 8 tons per hour. The underwater pelletizing process used in the system streamlines the cooling process, reduces noise, minimizes operational issues like slumping and clogging, and lowers water consumption through the use of recycled pellet water. Compared to the old system, the improved air delivery system enhances product quality stability and overall efficiency. From the initial design phase through construction, the chemical plant worked closely with relevant departments to ensure a smooth start-up of the new granulation system. During installation, the ABS workshop staff and construction teams demonstrated remarkable perseverance, working tirelessly to coordinate inspections, trial runs, and joint adjustments. The leadership and technical teams took full responsibility, following strict management procedures to ensure every stage of the startup process was completed efficiently. Party members and cadres led by example, staying on-site around the clock, which greatly motivated the entire workforce. Despite challenges such as harsh winter weather, high dust levels, complex personnel arrangements, and tight deadlines, the team managed to complete the field equipment debugging one by one. At the same time, the old granulation line continued operations during the transition, requiring careful coordination across multiple sites. All activities were strictly conducted according to HSE management standards, with zero tolerance for safety violations. The project was carried out with a strong emphasis on both quality and safety, ensuring the success of the expansion and reconstruction efforts. The successful operation of the new granulation system has significantly boosted the production capacity of the ABS unit. It also enhances the chemical plant’s sales revenue and market competitiveness, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan." This achievement marks not only a technological advancement but also a testament to the hard work and determination of the entire team.
