At noon yesterday, a fierce fire broke out at the Hankou Youth Road Wanguo Auto Parts and Motorcycle Market, sending thick smoke into the sky and causing widespread concern. After more than an hour and 40 minutes of intense firefighting efforts, the blaze was finally under control, with eight storefronts severely damaged. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The incident occurred around 11:08 AM when the Wuhan Fire Department's 119 Command Center received the alarm. Within minutes, 26 fire trucks and over 140 firefighters rushed to the scene. Upon arrival at 11:12 AM, they found the fire concentrated in the 17th business district of the market. The flames spread rapidly, posing a serious threat to surrounding businesses and structures.
As the reporter approached the scene via the overpass on Youth Road, heavy plumes of smoke could be seen rising high into the sky. At the location, it was clear that the fire had started in a shop filled with tires, car parts, and other auto accessories. The fire quickly engulfed the 16th to 23rd storefronts, leaving only ashes behind.
By 12:53 PM, the main flames had been extinguished, and firefighters began clearing the area and checking for any remaining hotspots. The fire department is currently investigating the cause, which is believed to be an electrical short circuit in the attic of the 8th storefront in the 17th management zone. The affected area covered approximately 150 square meters, and authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage and financial losses.
