On November 8, 2005, a significant seminar on the development of new technologies in the fine chemicals sector was held in Changzhou, hosted by CNPC. The event focused on the theme “Exchange Technology, Promoting Cooperation, and Promoting Comprehensive Technical Progress in China’s Fine Chemical Industry.” It brought together industry leaders, researchers, and experts to explore how CNPC has enhanced its technological capabilities through innovation in key areas of fine chemicals. Experts at the seminar emphasized that with the rapid global advancement of science and technology, CNPC, as one of the world’s top ten oil and petrochemical companies, faces intense international competition. To stay ahead, it is crucial for CNPC to leverage both domestic and international resources. While adopting new technologies in petroleum and fine chemicals, the company must also prioritize independent innovation. By developing high-tech solutions with intellectual property rights, CNPC can significantly boost its own research and development capabilities. The seminar featured presentations from leading experts across various institutions. Prof. Wang Yundong from Tsinghua University discussed “Process Intensification – the Only Way to Build a Conservation-Oriented Society,” highlighting the importance of efficient processes in sustainable development. Director Jing Jingping from Dalian University of Technology presented on the “Product-Oriented Development Strategy of Key Technologies for Fine Chemical Products.” Prof. Chen Zhixin from Zhejiang University shared insights on “Fine Chemicals and Synthetic Technology,” while Prof. Zhang Tianyong from Tianjin University introduced the application of “New Nanophotocatalytic Technology in the Reduction of Nitro Compounds.” Additionally, Prof. Li Yongji from Jiangsu Polytechnic University spoke about the use of “Catalytic and Functional Materials in Laboratory Research.” In addition to these technical discussions, the event provided a platform for universities and enterprises to exchange ideas on strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. Participants explored effective strategies for accelerating the transfer of academic research into practical applications within the corporate sector, aiming to foster innovation and drive long-term growth in the fine chemicals industry.
